NOTIFICATION FORMAT FOR REGIONAL TRADE AGREEMENTS

Adopted by the Council for Trade in Services on 16 November 2007

The Council for Trade in Services,
Having regard to the Decision by the General Council to establish, on a provisional basis, a Transparency Mechanism for RTAs (WT/L/671),

Having regard to the proposal by the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements regarding a common and simplified notification format for newly concluded regional trade agreements (RTAs), contained in document (WT/REG/16),

Considering that the nature of this proposal is procedural and its implementation will not entail any change in Members' legal rights and obligations,

Decides as follows,

Notwithstanding the Guidelines for Notifications Under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (S/L/5, dated 4 April 1995), notifications of agreements referred to in paragraph 1 of Article V, paragraph 1, (Economic Integration) of the GATS may be made pursuant to the common notification format for regional trade agreements proposed by the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements (WT/REG/16, dated 23 November 2006) and annexed to this Decision.
