Notification of Claim of Interest from New Zealand

The following communication has been received from the delegation of New Zealand on 6 June 2003 with the request that it be circulated to Members of the WTO.
It contains a notification pursuant to paragraph 3 of the Procedures for the Modification of Schedules (S/L/80) of its claim of interest as an affected Member in relation to the communication from the European Communities and its Members States (S/DCS/W/EEC) concerning their intention to modify or withdraw specific commitments.
New Zealand looks forward to entering into negotiations with the European Communities and its Member States with a view to reaching agreement on this matter.
The submission of this claim of interest and the negotiations to follow are without prejudice to any other rights New Zealand has under the General Agreement on Trade in Services or Marrakesh Agreement, including with regard to the consolidation of the European Communities Most Favoured Nation exemptions also referred to in S/DCS/W/EEC.

ing
the Council for Trade in Services of their intention to modify or withdraw the specific commitments set out in the Annex on page 3 to that communication.

looks forward to entering into negotiations with the European Communities and its Member States with a view to reaching agreement on this matter.
The Republic of Korea
would also like to
seek clarification of the legal and procedural basis for the
replacement of existing list of Article II MFN exemptions of the European Communities and
its
Member States referred in the document S/DCS/W/EEC by the consolidated list of Article II MFN exemptions attached to the document.

GATS/EL/7, GATS/EL/33 and GATS/EL/82), Japan questions the legal basis and the procedures for such replacement and is interested in further discussing this issue.
