COHERENCE IN GLOBAL ECONOMIC POLICY-MAKING
Report (2009-2010) by the Director-General
Introduction
This report has been prepared pursuant to paragraph 2 of the General Council Decision on "Agreements Between the WTO, the IMF and the World Bank", to inform Members about the activities carried out by the WTO under its cooperation agreements with the IMF and the World Bank.
Activities under the 1994 Ministerial Declaration on the Contribution of the WTO in Achieving Greater Coherence in Economic Policy-Making have continued to intensify – reflecting the need for even greater international policy coordination in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and recession. Information concerning visas
General information
Switzerland has been an associate member of the Schengen Agreements since 12 December 2008 and is therefore part of the Schengen Area. Persons subject to the visa requirement (hereinafter referred to as applicants) may obtain a visa from Switzerland for a stay of up to three months. These visas are generally valid for the whole of the Schengen Area.
The implementation of the Schengen regulations has led to a number of changes in the procedures for issuing visas. Pursuant to the headquarters agreements with international organizations and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 18 April 1961, which applies by analogy to Permanent Missions in Geneva, the competent authorities make every effort to process applications as quickly as possible. Under the Schengen regulations, however, the waiting time for a visa has increased, and it is vital that this be taken
