The Membership is open to all WTO Members indicating their wish to serve on the Working Party.

Terms of Reference:

To examine the application of the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to accede to the WTO Agreement under Article XII, and to submit to the General Council recommendations which may include a draft Protocol of Accession.

ACCESSION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS

Request for Accession Pursuant to Article XII


The Director-General has received the following communication from the Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas with the request that it be included on the agenda of the next General Council.

The Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas presents its compliments to the Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and has the honour to advise of its decision to apply for membership in the WTO under Article XII of the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the WTO.

As a small island economy, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas is mindful of the necessity of full participation in the international trading system and, to that end, looks forward to becoming a member of the WTO in accordance with the procedures established for accession. I should therefor
